Batteries, unfortunately, after a time no longer function. The better camera batteries often last many years because of infrequency of the camera’s use. However, all do not fall in this category and may need to be replaced more often. With some newer cameras, if one fails to turn it ‘off’, this will continue to drain battery power.
The type of power source required is also important. Some camera battery chargers can be plugged into a cigarette lighter on a car. This is important when one is on an all day outing and suddenly finds their camera batteries running low. Other chargers need to be plugged into an electrical outlet and may or may not be adaptable to power sources in other countries.
